M/Y MONSERRAT

Refurbished in 2018, the M/Y Monserrat was specially built to cruise in the Galapagos islands in the most comfortable way while providing the highest levels of safety and care for the environment.

 

The yacht has many social exterior and interior areas for passengers to enjoy while they relax after a day of excitement in the Galapagos.

 

Exterior areas include a sun bathing area in the Upper Deck as well as a partially covered area on the Sun Deck all with reclining chairs. Additionally, the Monserrat has an elegant interior dining room, bar and lounge on Main Deck.Its great choice for solo travelers, couples and people of all ages! One naturalist guide for every 10 guests make for a more private and rewarding Galapagos experience! Monserrat’s kitchen staff will keep you pampered while you are onboard. From delicious hot/cold snacks waiting for you after your morning and afternoon explorations, to mouthwatering hot lunches and dinners. Our barman/waiter together with our Chef and his assistant will make sure you experience the best from the Ecuadorian and international gastronomy. Your day will start with an ample breakfast spread in the mornings right before your morning landing. Upon your return from your visits to the islands both in the morning and on the afternoon, you will find hot/cold snacks with a refreshing fruit juice. Day 1: Transfer In

Day 2: Quito- Cloud Forest.

  • 8: 00 Breakfast 

  • 9:00 Departure to Kapari Lodge

  • 12:00 Welcome gathering

  • 13:00 pm Lunch

  • 15:00 Walking the Latitude 0 trail, where you have the chance to be in two hemispheres in a single day and learn more about the endemic flora and fauna, until you reach the waterfall of the same name, with an impressive view of the Blanco river.

  • 16: 00 Mentoring (Duration: 1 hour) Mandalas as a mindfulness tool In this workshop we will explore the origin of mandalas, what they are and how to use them as a tool to bring us into the present moment. We will paint a chosen mandala together and set the personal and collective intention we want to bring into the practice.

  • 17:00 Yoga practice

  • 19:00 Dinner

  • 20:30 Meditation practice to sleep

Day 3: Cloud Forest 

 

  • 6:30 Sadhana Yoga (Duration: 1 hour)

  • 8:00 Breakfast

  • 9:00 Owl trail, you will walk across a cliff, crossing several viewpoints with spectacular landscapes of the valley and the Blanco river. A tour to admire the beauty of the biological corridor of Chocó Andino as on the balcony of a botanical garden.

  • 11: 30 FREE TIME (use of facilities)

  • 13: 00 Lunch

  • 15: 00 – 17:00 Mentoring Understanding your Dosha In Ayurvedic terms, our Dosha is our unique constitution, based on the five elements of nature. In this workshop we will study their meaning, how to recognize our own and how to adapt our lifestyle to this unique blueprint.

  • 18: 00 Yoga practice

  • 19:00 Dinner

  • 20: 30 An alternative night activity is the walk along our trails, to be able to spot a variety of species such as amphibians, reptiles, insects and some nocturnal mammals and birds. OR

  • 20:30 Meditation practice to sleep

​Day 4: Cloud Forest- Quito

 

  • 7:00 Sadhana Yoga (Duration: 1 hour)

  • 8:00 Breakfast

  • 9:00 After a succulent breakfast, we'll show you the wonderful world of butterflies at Kapari Lodge, a refuge in the middle of the forest with the perfect habitat to provide healthy spaces in which butterflies can develop their complete cycle of life.

  • 10:00 am Mentoring (Duration: 1 hour) Using essential oils at home In this workshop we will learn about essential oils, what they are, where do they come from, how to choose them correctly, and how we can start using them at home. Essential oils are the best and natural pharmacy we can have in our home to improve our physical and emotional wellbeing as well as that of our loved ones.

  • 11:00 am we will be part of Oxygen for the Future project to contribute to the mitigation of climate change and biodiversity loss, by fulfilling Ecuador's quota with the reforestation and protection of 9 million trees until 2030. We will plant a tree in Kapari reserve which is part of this project.

  • 13: 00 Lunch

Day 5: Quito city tour and Middle of the World Monument visit

​

This full-day tour starts with a city-tour through the old town of Quito including the visit of many colonial Churches and the Virgin of Quito on the top of the Panecillo hill. Afterwards, you will be taken 40 miles north of Quito to the “Middle of the World” (Mitad del Mundo) monument and

the close by Intiñan Solar Museum, which is both entertaining and educational. Back to the hotel in the afternoon.

Day 6: Quito- Galapagos Islands: BALTRA AIRPORT/ SANTA CRUZ ISLAND​

​

Transfer hotel-airport. Take flight to Galapagos. Arrival in Galapagos and board M/Y Monserrat

Transfer to the boat to meet the guide and get on board. In the afternoon, enjoy the highlands. Visit a tortoise ranch and see some of the amazing volcanic formations on Santa Cruz.

 

Santa Cruz Highlands Excursion (PM) Santa Cruz Island (2h-3h) Visit the highlands of Santa Cruz and see the Galápagos giant tortoise in its natural surroundings. Explore the area and its incredible underground lava tunnels – some are more than 1km (.6 mi) long! Wander along the volcanic tubes and keep an eye out for the (mainly) nocturnal barn owls that sometimes roost here.

Day 7: Galapagos Islands: RÁBIDA ISLAND / BARTOLOMÉ ISLAND (FRIDAY)

​

6:30 Sadhana Yoga (Duration: 1 hour)

This morning we will have an excursion to Rábida its unique reddish landscape, to see a lagoon and a sea lion colony. Continue to Bartolomé for a guided tour to see the dramatic volcanic features before hiking to a panoramic viewpoint.

​

Rabida Island Excursion (AM)

Rábida Island Arrive at a red sand beach at Rábida to explore its trails. A short trail leads to a saltwater lagoon; another trail goes past the lagoon to the interior, where the revered palo santo trees grow. (When burned, the branches of this tree give off a pleasing aroma and ward off mosquitoes.) Head back to the beach to see prehistoric-looking pelicans nesting among low-lying bushes – it's a rare treat to watch parent pelicans return with gullets full of fish for the squawking youngsters.

Snorkelling (Isla Rábida) (AM)

Rábida Island (45m-1h) Take a panga ride from the beach to a cliff wall that drops off into the water to find one of the best deep-water snorkeling spots in the islands. 

 

Bartolomé Island Landing (PM) 

Bartolomé Island

Hike to Bartolomé's summit for a stronger perspective of the islands' not-toodistant volcanic origins, and enjoy a panoramic view – it’s one of the best among the islands! See other Galápagos Islands in the distance as well as Pinnacle Rock, the island’s famous towering landmark.

Snorkelling (Bartolomé Island) (PM)

Bartolomé Island (45m-1h) 

Take the opportunity to swim and snorkel around Pinnacle Rock, one of the most iconic volcanic rock formations on the islands. Home to Galápagos penguins, friendly sea lions, sea turtles, and a huge variety of fish, Bartolomé and its surrounding waters are a fantastic place to explore the natural wonders of the Galápagos.

DAY 8: Galapagos Islands: ISLAS PLAZA / SANTA FÉ ISLAND (SATURDAY)​

6:30 Sadhana Yoga (Duration: 1 hour) 

 

Land at South Plaza in the morning for wildlife spotting opportunities and a walk through the cactus forest. In the afternoon, take a guided walk around Santa Fé to observe wildlife and plentiful marine iguanas.

 

South Plaza Island Visit (AM)

South Plaza, one of the smallest islands in the Galápagos, which has one of the largest populations of land iguanas. Walk along a path through a cactus forest and view a combination of dry and coastal vegetation on this lively island, home to a wide range of fauna, including incredible birdlife. Spot red-billed tropicbirds and indigenous swallow-tailed gulls resting on the cliffs, and sea lions playing in the waters.

 

Sante Fé Hiking (PM)

Santa Fé Island Lace up your hiking boats to explore the island's flora and fauna. Trek toward the cliffs along the island's northern shore to see a forest of giant prickly pear cacti (Opuntia). See endemic land iguanas lounging in their favourite forest, and feasting on Opuntia pads and fruit.

DAY 9: Galapagos Islands: PUNTA PITT

/ CERRO BRUJO (SUNDAY)

​​

6:30 Sadhana Yoga (Duration: 1 hour)

Morning landing at Punta Pitt on San Cristóbal Island to observe the marine iguanas and seabirds along the beach and enjoy a snorkelling excursion. On the afternoon, we land at Cerro Brujo to observe the sea lions, marine iguanas, and seabirds along the beach.

 

Punta Pitt Visit (AM) Enjoy amazing wildlife watching and interesting geological formations on this fascinating expedition. Arrive at a quiet cove on the eastern tip of San Cristóbal to explore Punta Pitt. Made up of volcanic tuff substrate, it's the only site in the Galápagos where it's possible to see three species of boobies and two species of frigatebirds.

 

Snorkelling (Punta Pitt) (AM) Punta Pitt Snorkel around Punta Pitt Island and spot schools of fish swimming below. On the shore admire the nesting birds and sun bathing sea lions.

 

Cerro Brujo Visit (PM)

Cerro Brujo (1h-3h)

Visit Cerro Brujo to explore its coastline, and look for wildlife on the beach, in the water, and in the air. Learn about the human and natural history of the area from the Galápagos CEO. Take a refreshing dip in the turquoise water, and head out on a short walk to a freshwater lagoon – a great place to see flamingos.

DAY 10: Galapagos Islands- Quito: LOBOS ISLAND

/ SAN CRISTOBAL AIRPORT (MONDAY)​

In the morning, visit Isla Lobos and be greeted by sea lions frolicking in the waves before transferred to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno airport.

 

Isla Lobos Visit (AM)

Isla Lobos Explore this tiny island by foot and boat for some great wildlife encounters. Take a panga ride to view the sea and shore birds nesting and feeding. Spot a small colony of blue-footed boobies as well as two species of sea lions.

Flight back to Quito and transfer to the hotel. Farewell dinner.

DAY 11: Transfer out

Experience the ultimate relaxation and wellness with our yoga sessions. Discover a tranquil oasis and find inner harmony through gentle movements, deep breathing, and mindful meditation. You will have the opportunity to practice yoga after the regular visit in the island and enjoy the beauty of the site during your yoga session. It has to be regulated by Galapagos National Park where it is possible to do it based on cruise itinerary. These special activities can be only offer in a boat charter. Susana Echeverria​​

Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga Teacher specialized in alignment and accessibility, Kids yoga and Chair Yoga. Ayurvedic Coach and massage and energy healing therapist.

 

She has been a student of yoga for 14 years and a teacher since 2013. She obtained her three certifications in Hatha Yoga, Yoga for children (3-12 years) and Yoga Dance (Let Your Yoga Dance) in the United States, where she practiced and resided for 16 years. She is currently based in Ecuador.

 

Throughout her years of practice she has always sought to deepen my knowledge of yoga by participating in multiple courses and workshops on Ayurveda, Psychology, Meditation, Personal Growth among others.

 

The practice of yoga and meditation generate peace and harmony, as well as great physical, mental and emotional benefits, which is why she loves sharing this practice with children, adults and the elderly, since it is a practice that can be adapted to any age and to the whole body. ​​​

Ayurvedic coach, vedic healer & Yoga

​

She started her Yoga Journey in Madrid practicing with Borja Romero. A certified teacher at KPJAYI (K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute). Yoga instructor. Ayurveda and yoga workshops instructor. She began to accompany people in their healing process through Vedic Therapies and Ayurvedic coaching. Founder of Yoga center in Quito named Yoga Soul.

 

Currently teaching Yoga & Ayurveda in Yoga Soul. Continues to accompany people in their healing process through Vedic Therapies, Yoga, Ayurvedic coaching & humanistic psychology.
