Why I Created This Retreat

My name is Maria Augusta (Magus) Cuisana, founder of Blue-Footed Travel and a passionate runner.

Running has been part of my life for many years. In 2021, I completed the Chicago Marathon, an experience that reminded me how powerful movement can be for both the body and the mind.

Today, like many women, I am navigating the natural transition of menopause. During this time, running in nature — especially on the beautiful trails of the Andes Mountains — has helped me stay balanced, energized, and connected to myself.

This retreat was born from that personal experience. I wanted to create a space where women can move their bodies, breathe fresh mountain air, and feel supported while embracing this stage of life with strength and positivity.

During the retreat, I will be running alongside you — not as a coach, but as a fellow participant who believes deeply in the healing power of nature, movement, and shared experiences. Together, we will celebrate the beauty of change and rediscover our rhythm in the mountains of Ecuador.

Reduce Stress + Rediscover Your Rhythm Through Mindful Running

Mindful running is at the heart of this retreat experience. Guided by your expert retreat leader, you’ll be introduced to a more intentional way of running—both on and off the trail—designed to help you move with greater ease, awareness, and flow.

Whether you’re new to trail running or already experienced, you’ll learn how to adapt your technique to varied terrain—from Andean paths to lush cloud forest trails—improving efficiency while reducing strain on the body.

More importantly, this practice invites you to slow down, tune in, and reconnect with your breath, your body, and the natural world around you.

Through this approach, running becomes more than physical exercise, it becomes a powerful tool to release stress, support hormonal balance, and cultivate a deeper sense of presence and well-being.
